Wines Region / Country Source Cost Comments
1. Albet I Noya Cava
Spain
Vintage Roots
£11
A fair sparkling wine but some thought too dear
2. Terralis Viognier
Argentina

£4.95
A very interesting nose with a honey flavour but a little harsh on the finish. A Very difficult grape
3. Domaine La Bouissiere Gigondas
Rhone, France

£7
Some found a little thin but I felt it to be OK. Fruity  but just a little shorter than usual
4. Michelton 1994 Shiraz
Australia

£9.50
Big but with a bit more restraint than  it used to have. A touch more elegant. Long period of sustained  balanced fruit with acid. A beautiful blend.
5. Albet I Noya 1997 Syrah, Penedes
Catalonia, Spain
Vintage Roots
£11.50
A very good red. Fruity nose Hint of elderberry. Good tannin  balanced acid. Spice and smooth  long finish.
6. Saint  Aubin  de Luigne 1997 Coteaux du Layon
Loire, France

£11.50
A sweet with a  difference. A lot preferred this to the following Beaumes de Venise. Seemed smoother   and more integrated without the harsh effects  of alcohol sometimes found in sweet .
7. Domaines des Richards Beaumes de Venise
Loire, France

£6.50
A fair  sample of this wine. Some liked this, others  liked the Layon
8. Gonzalez Byass Matusalem 30 year old Oloroso
Jerez, Spain

£20.00
A lot of talk about this.  The maderised caramel nose and flavour was not to everyone's palate. I liked this, certainly different
9. Dow's 1986 Quinta do Bomfim Port
Douro, Portugal

£20.00
This was the star of the evening for me and many others. Long smooth fruity balanced.  The alcohol did not offend at all  and it was all just a good example of the Port makers art..Thank You
