13%   A sweet, almost syrupy approach, quite pungent with some flint/struck match. On the palate there was oak and a touch of acetone, along with honeysuckle. It had a complex and tannic finish.

13% Kirsch liqueur nose with some undertones of forest vegetation. Lean and clean on the palate, a little drying, with a touch of strawberry on the finish

13%. 95% Pinot Noir 5% Cesar with a fresh nose, some mint and dark berries, showing ripe fruit with cool tannins. A warming wine but with a slightly short finish. This was popular, with a few years of life left in it.
5. Karl H Johner 2010 Kaiserstuhl Pinot Noir  Baden Germany Wine Society £10.30 13.5% The nose was of sweaty feet and smoked cheese with a lean approach. There was ripe, warm fruit on the mid-palate, a touch jammy with good balance of oak, but a short finish.
6. Domaine Saint Antonin 2012 Cuvée Lou Cazalet, Faugères AOP Languedoc

14.5%- 30% Grenache, 30% Carignan, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre. A fragrant, almost confected nose with a thick, sweet approach and a warm finish.
7. Celler Malondro 2009 Latria, Montsant DO Catalonia Spain Wine Society £16 14.5%  50% Carignan, 50% Garnacha. The nose was Grenache with simple, sweet fruit on the palate, but no real complexity.
8. Château Sainte-Eulalie 2011 La Cantilene, Minervois La Livinière AOC

14.5%   55% Syrah, 20% Granache, 25%Carignan. A dark nose with roasted coffee, chocolate and a sight savoury/meaty character. It had a smooth, cool approach which turns forceful, showing acidity, dark fruit and fine tannins which build into a long finish.
9. Château Vignelaure 2007 Coteaux d’ Aix en Provence Provence

14.5%  70% Cab. Sauv, 30% Syrah. A sweet nose with a touch of graphite and mushroom. Gentle approach with quite zesty acidity that takes hold towards the warm finish, tannins building up between sips. Some vegetal greenness at the edges.
